A Day in the Life of Summer
Meet Summer! She is a curious, energetic three year old who started in our two year old class. Now a confident member of the three year old class, she loves making new friends, exploring her creativity, and jumping into every part of her day with enthusiasm. When she is not busy exploring the classroom, Summer loves talking about her favorite animal – dogs! 8:00am
☀️Morning Hellos & Free Play☀️
With a big smile and warm hugs, Summer begins her day full of excitement. After her dad checks her in at the kiosk in Building A, she greets her teachers and friends before heading to her first center of the day. It’s Fairy Tale Week and today’s magical theme is dragons – setting the stage for a day full of wonder and imaginative learning.

🧱Table & Floor Explorers🧱
The Caterpillars jump into hands-on play! Today, Summer is exploring gears and tracks, working with a friend to design and problem-solve. These activities promote fine motor development, creative thinking, and early STEM skills – all while strengthening collaboration and communication.

🌳Let’s Go Outside!🌳
Fresh air and big movement energize the morning! Summer runs, climbs, and explores across the playground, excited to spot baby dragon footprints near her favorite play structure. Outdoor play builds strength, social bonds, and curiosity fostering magical moments like these.

🍎Snack & Chat🍎
After active play, the class washes hands and gathers for a healthy mid-morning snack. Summer enjoys cinnamon toast crunch while chatting with friends, building language skills, independence, and table manners through everyday routines.

🗓Circle Time Adventures🗓
Circle time is a chance to come together and connect. The Caterpillars sing songs, count in English and Spanish, talk about the weather, and review the calendar. Today, Summer is captivated by The Scarlet Dragon, a story that sparks imagination while nurturing empathy, listening skills, and early literacy

🎨Center Time: Think, Build, Create!🎨
In center time, Summer rotates through sensory bins, writing practice, and themed art. Today she proudly showcases her creation of a paper plate dragon she named Scary. Through these hands-on experiences, Summer is strengthening early academic foundations while expressing her creativity and personal voice.

🏃♀️Outside Again We Go!🏃♀️
A second round of outdoor play invites big body movement and joyful connection. Summer jumps off her favorite stump – sometimes it’s a mountain, sometimes it’s a fairy garden, and sometimes it’s even a kitchen to make leaf salads! These shared moments inspire imagination, confidence, and gross motor development

🥪Lunch Bunch🥪
With clean hands and a happy heart, Summer sits down for lunch with her friends. She enjoys a sandwich and carrots with ranch from her puppy-themed lunchbox while chatting about her morning. Meal times support independence, self-help skills, and meaningful social interaction.

💤Caterpillar’s Calm Time💤
After a full morning of learning and play, rest time offers a calm and comforting break. Summer may nap or enjoy quiet options like books, coloring, or dry erase boards. Today, Summer cuddles her unicorn and rainbow blanket – perfect for Fairy Tale Week – as she recharges. This mid-day pause helps children recharge and develop healthy routines while also supporting their emotional regulation and focus.

🌤Afternoon Play Escape🌤
Summer beams with pride as she leads her class outside for their third outdoor play session. Being the line leader is a big responsibility and she loves the chance to help! More time to move, imagine, and engage with peers supports her growing sense of confidence and leadership.

🍇Snack & Social Time🍇
After washing hands again, it’s time for a second snack. This gives Summer the energy boost and hydration she needs to finish the day strong. Today, the Caterpillars enjoy animal crackers and Summer begins guessing the animals with her classmates! These everyday rituals continue to support independence with meal routines, language development, and polite table manners in a relaxed, friendly setting.

🎶Enrichment & Movement Magic🎶
The afternoon brings flexible enrichment time. The Caterpillars may engage in instruments, yoga, or a dance party. Today, Summer explores the library while reading with friends, completing puzzles, and sharing a Paw Patrol busy book. These activities promote literacy, problem-solving, and cooperative play all through joyful, child-led learning.
3:55pm
🌺Last Outdoor Hurrah🌺
In the final outdoor play session, Summer and her best friend return to their special spot to check if the baby dragon footprints are still there. End-of-day play gives students a final chance to run, climb, and discover before pick-up. This time encourages stamina, social development, and outdoor exploration while winding down the day with fun, familiar routines.

👋Wind Down & Pick Up👋
As the day winds down, children revisit favorite centers, cuddle up with books, or build with friends while awaiting pickup. This time reinforces self-direction, choice-making, and social-emotional development. Summer chooses to build with waffle blocks while keeping an eye out for her dad. When he arrives, she runs to him with a huge bear hug, eager to share stories from her dragon-filled day. She’s already excited to return tomorrow!
